From racing, themed dinners and holiday parties, to quiet summer evening raft-ups, there is always something going on at TSC!
If you listen closely like Commodore Dave said, you might hear the “glug glug” of our lake slowly draining. So, we are going to try to get this summer started! We have rearranged our TSC calendar to get all of our events scheduled. Please see the revised calendar on the Events page.
Our next event will be the Ol' Man o' the Sea Race, scheduled for Saturday, June 28. This annual event is our single-handed race around the buoys. This is a single-handed race, where a single person will perform all functions of sailing the boat.
Ol’ Man o’ the Sea schedule:
0930-1000 Registration at TSC Clubhouse
1000 Skippers Meeting at TSC Clubhouse
1155 First Warning Signal
1800 Awards Ceremony at TSC Clubhouse.
Then…….Come on up to the clubhouse and enjoy a Burger Dinner with all the fixin’s and Margaritas by the gallon. And plenty of time for porch talk to get back in touch with all our friends.
From the Commodore – Welcome to Sailing Season!
Ah, springtime! Or as I like to call it in Texas, "First Summer.” As the days grow longer and the temperatures warm up, I can't help but reflect on last season—did you find yourself lamenting not using your boat as much as you had hoped? Well, now’s the time to change that!
This is going to be a great summer, and I know this because every year, Bill Nichols and I confidently declare that this will be a great sailing season, as we drink a beer on the deck of the clubhouse. And, we're always right! (At least, that's what we tell ourselves.)
One of the best ways to ensure you get out on the water is to participate in the club’s races and social events. These aren’t just opportunities to compete and eat; they’re the heartbeat of our community—a chance to enjoy the camaraderie, share stories, and most importantly, sail more!
Our next event, Beat the Taxman, is just around the corner on April 12, and it promises to be a fantastic day of sailing, followed by a potluck dinner that evening. Whether you’re a seasoned racer or simply looking for an excuse to get out on the water, this is your chance. If you haven't raced before, don't worry—there's no tax audit involved, just good times and a few tacks in the right direction.
Not into racing? No problem! We always need volunteers for Race Committee, and trust me, you don’t need to be an expert—or even know anything about sailboat racing—to help out. In fact, I need a hand for the upcoming Spring Regatta, and I’d actually prefer some folks who aren’t regular racers. If you know which way is up on a sailboat, you’re already overqualified. And if you don’t? Even better! We’ll train you in the fine art of clipboard holding, flag waving, and looking important while watching boats go by.
The water is calling! So, join us for some fun! And if you see Bill and me on the deck with our traditional drinks, feel free to join us—but only if you’re prepared to discuss just how great this season is going to be!
See you on the water!
Dave Long
